Boston, MA, July 18, 2024 – MedTechVets, a leading non-profit organization dedicated to supporting military veterans in transitioning into careers in the medical technology sector, proudly announces Mary McLoughlin will be consulting as Strategic Advisor effective July 1, 2024.
With an extensive background in both healthcare policy and corporate leadership, Mary McLoughlin brings over 30 years of experience to MedTechVets.
“As a former colleague, I have worked with Mary for 17 years and I know that she is intelligent, articulate and will provide strategic insight to help more veterans find careers with purpose in the Medical Technology Industry,” said Steve Mapa, President and Executive Director of MedTechVets.
Mary McLoughlin is currently the managing director of MTMC Advisors, LLC, providing independent consultation in the areas of strategic analysis and planning, program development, and marketing assistance. She retired in 2021 after 17 years with Abiomed, Inc., a manufacturer and supplier of lifesaving, minimally invasive cardiovascular technologies. She was most recently the National Director of Protected PCI Program Development, working with large hospitals and health systems to develop and grow their high-risk and complex cardiac programs. Prior roles at Abiomed included responsibilities for the company’s reimbursement strategies and cost-effectiveness studies, working with providers and payers.
Mary has divided her 30+ year career between health system provider organizations (Premier and American Hospital Association) and major supplier organizations (Cardinal Health and Abiomed). Mary received her MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University and her bachelor’s degree in health policy and administration from The Pennsylvania State University. Mary has been trained in facilitation skills and clinical and quality improvement tools and strategies; she holds a Six Sigma Black Belt.
“I am excited and humbled to work with MedTechVets to aid our nation’s veterans in their next, purpose-driven careers,” said Mary. “And I am grateful for the opportunity to continue my family legacy of veteran support. Not only did my father serve in the US Army, but my father-in-law was an Air Force fighter pilot, and two of my brothers are USNA graduates.”
“Mary’s unique combination of experiences makes her a valuable advisor to MedTechVets and to the veterans it supports. Mary will be able to leverage her professional experiences, while continuing her family’s commitment and legacy of supporting West Point and military veterans. Her father was a West Point graduate and physician, who rose to the rank of Major General commanding at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Her parents lived lives of service to veterans as evidenced by The Mologne Cadet Health Clinic at West Point and the former Mologne House at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and countless hours of American Red Cross volunteering for wounded warriors,” says Michael Minogue, Founder of MedTechVets and Former Chairman and CEO of Abiomed, Inc.
Mary McLoughlin’s role demonstrates MedTechVets’ ongoing commitment to expand its programs and services to support veterans in their career transitions.
