Scott Whitaker, President and CEO of AdvaMed, Appointed to the Board of Directors of MedTechVets

Boston, MA, August 26, 2024MedTechVets, a leading non-profit organization dedicated to supporting military veterans in transitioning into careers in the medical technology sector, proudly announces the appointment of Scott Whitaker to our Board of Directors effective August 15, 2024.  

As President and CEO of AdvaMed, the medtech association, Whitaker brings to the board significant expertise in the medical technology industry and health policy more broadly. Whitaker is widely recognized as a top health care advocate with experience across multiple health policy sectors, having worked successfully with diverse stakeholder groups – including hospital, patient, and physician groups, regulators, public and private payers, and global trade organizations – to advance innovation and timely patient access to next-generation treatments and cures.

Prior to his roles with AdvaMed and as COO of BIO, Scott served as chief of staff of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS). As HHS chief of staff, he managed the day-to-day operations of the department; led the department’s activities on all major policy and management issues and initiatives; and served as the top liaison to the White House on policy, management, and political matters. He holds a degree in political science from Palm Beach Atlantic University and a master’s degree in government from Johns Hopkins University.

His experience in both the health policy and medical technology fronts as well as his network will help serve the board of directors and move forward the vision of MedTechVets to provide opportunities for more veterans in the medical technology space.
